Medical School Graduation Party Ideas
With a little imagination and planning, a medical school graduation party can be fun and personal. You already know what the theme is, so it’s just a case of creating decorations and deciding on games and food to match. Naturally the first part is the invitation. For a quirky touch to give your guests a clue as to what to expect, send out “Party Prescriptions” written in the style of, and to reflect the achievements of, the graduate doctor.
Party Decorations
Whether you want to be elegant or humorous in your party decorations, these are vital to set the mood of your party venue. Use glass apothecary jars in various sizes filled with candy to look like pills. Barbie dolls dressed as doctors or nurses can be placed around the tables. Other centerpieces could be first aid kits or floating candles resembling eye balls in large glass bowls of water. Add red coloring to the water to make it look like blood, if you want to go a bit gory! For streamers and bunting use bandages or gauze and don’t hold back – drape it over every surface!
For fun party games, fix a sticky label with the name of a famous doctor (real or fictional), on the back of each guest as they arrive. Guests can ask each other “yes” or “no” questions throughout the party to try to establish who they are! A glass jar filled to the top with candy (pills) is a good guessing game and you can have a prize (medical themed of course!) for the winner. For a medical memory game, fill a tray with different medical supplies, e.g. scissors, bandages, stethoscope, andĀ give each guest just two minutes to memorize the items. Cover the items on the tray with a large cloth, then ask guests to remember as many items as they can, with a prize for the winner.
Food
When it comes to food for the party, you can really let your imagination run wild! Serve finger sandwiches and cookies in medical supply containers (make sure they are clean!) For food utensils, use medical tools. Mould Jello in a brain shape for a unique, eye-catching centerpiece! Your local craft store will sell candy melts and chocolate mould – make chocolates in medical-themed shapes. A cookie cutter in the shape of a shirt or jacket will make it easy to create surgical scrub cookies, and you can decorate theseĀ with silver icing to add a doctor’s tools.
