Well that is true, invest your time and money to find good jewelry gift boxes. I am one of those persons who would generally be keen that I should buy good jewelry for my wife as a gift rather than spending money on the jewelry box. What a fool I was on that one.

The first time last year when I gave my wife the silver bracelet in a nice small jewelry box with her name engraved on it and with a special heart sign on it she went into that entrance which was a sight to watch. Nothing came as more shocking for me as the fact that packaging is everything. She was overjoyed not because of the silver bracelet but for the fact that the jewelry box was so pretty. Hmmm next time it is going to be a better and bigger and special jewelry box.

I wish I had known this before and all these years of gifting my wife on Valentines Day as well as anniversaries would have been money well spent.

This time when I finally decide to invest my time in the finding the best of the best jewelry boxes I stumbled upon quite a few styles of those ranging from pure wooden boxes to Leatherette Boxes and then the more expensive designer collection.

Types of packaging and gift boxes

Kraft jewelry gift boxes – These are the most commonly available boxes that are available with any jewelry shop as well as special packaging shops. These are essentially the cardboard boxes made with Kraft paper. You can get a variety of colors in this and the costs are very nominal too.

Personally velvet gift boxes are my favorite as that special touch of smooth velvet makes all the difference. It gives a very royal appearance too.

Jewelry pouches – Draw string leather pouches are very common form of packaging jewelry though generally they do not look as elegant as the boxes. A lot of shops would generally give you the jewelry in draw string jewelry pouches and then would put those in jewelry gift box. In my view that was a waste of the gift box. Opening a box only to find the jewelry pouch inside is not what you would like. So shun the pouch.

Jewelry Folders – Pearl jewelry folders especially those with velvet touch are really really good if you are giving the gift of a nice pearl necklace. The packaging of that in a box will not work well so the jewelry folder will do wonders.

Novelty jewelry boxes – These boxes are special styled boxes like the rose shaped box or the guitar shaped box in which you can place the ring or earrings. I remember that for the engagement ring for my wife I has bought a musical guitar shaped jewelry box and when it was opened the light music also started. It was money well spent .

Tip: There are a lot of jewelry gift boxes on sale on ebay which are available for as low as $5.00. So I suggest not to try and make your own jewelry box. You are better off buying the box.
