When you are going to a housewarming party or just to visit a friend in a new home it is best to bring along a gift. The gift should express your joy for their new home without going overboard. One way to accomplish this task is to give them a new home gift basket. These baskets are a nice way of saying welcome to your new home and thank you for inviting me to see it.

Small appliances and cookware

Typically these baskets have food, alcohol, or items that can be used in the home such as kitchen utensils or spices. How you create your basket really is up to you; use your imagination! You have to take into account the situation of the friend or family member you are visiting. If it is the first time they have moved into their own home, certain gifts for a new home such as small appliances or cookware would be good. Whatever the gift, you want it to be something that they will be able to use and not something they will just give away.

Food basket

Food can be a great idea for a gift basket especially if they have not finished unpacking. By giving them some food to choose from they will not have to cook, which will be a nice relief. When trying to unpack everything in to a new home it is just a hassle to have to cook anything at all. Alcohol is another nice touch. A nice bottle of wine can be opened and shared by everyone to celebrate the new home. Not only is this useful but it adds a feeling of goodwill to the new house, allowing all the guests to join in for a toast.

Themed gift baskets

It is important to apply what you know about the person you are going to visit before getting them anything. The better matched your new home gift basket is the more likely they are to appreciate it. After you have decided on your theme go out and buy a nice big basket. Fill it with everything you think is important to show you are happy for them. Your gift basket does not have to be full of expensive items; it just has to be thoughtful. You could simply make baked goods that will cost next to nothing and your new home owner will probably be very grateful.

When deciding on what to get, decide from the heart.
