Gift Ideas for Twin Babies
When the joy of two little ones arrive, there are many novel twin baby gift ideas to choose from to welcome them to the world and congratulate their parents.
Twin baby gift baskets
Companies specializing in baby gift baskets also offer ‘twin hamper’ options, containing the usual newborn presents except usually a matching pair of everything! A typical basket will contain a selection of the following: teddy bears, coordinating sleep suits and bonnets, rattles, cot mobiles, comforters and/or soft blankets and booties, plus possibly something for the parents as well, such as a photo frame, keepsake box or a mug, or maybe even some champagne to celebrate the arrival. As parents of twins get through twice as many diapers and twice as many clothes, an unusual but thoughtful and practical idea (and one that is immensely popular at baby showers) is a diaper cake. This is not delicious, or even edible, as it consists of a variety of carefully folded reusable diapers, fleecy blankets, bath sponges, soothers, bibs, soft toys and clothing in pretty pastel colors and presented beautifully with ribbons and bows.
Twin baby games, puzzles and walkers & buggies
When their first birthday comes round, twins are ready for interactive toys, and activities that will help them with the development of their motor skills. Although personalized and twin-themed gifts are always lovely (for example, a double photo frame), a ride-on toy or baby walker (one for each twin) will provide them with endless hours of discovery and enjoyment and help increase their confidence when they practice their first steps. Walkers are extremely popular and there are many varieties of walker available, from the simple push-along walker to assist the baby in the transition to toddlerhood, to the brightly colored plastic, battery-operated, noisy, flashing kind with songs and educational games. The latter type of walker will inevitably delight the twins, although the parents might appreciate a more basic, quiet model: perhaps a wooden toddler walker with bricks or alphabet blocks, which will also engage the child’s interest and encourage their development. Toddler walkers have a base on wheels with a handle and are pushed along like a lawnmower; these are only recommended for babies who are already able to take a few independent steps.
The traditional ‘sit-in’ infant walkers – usually consisting of a fabric seat suspended on a molded plastic frame on wheels, sometimes with an interactive ‘control panel’ to stimulate the baby’s senses – have been criticized in the past for being unsafe, however most modern models conform to strict safety guidelines. However, one point to consider is that two lively babies in two freewheeling walkers will require a considerable area to move around in, and will require adult supervision at all times.
