Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum by Viktor & Rolf

Flowerbomb was launched in 2005 and was the first perfume of fashion designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, who had been in the fashion industry since 1993. The opening notes are sweet with praline and patchouli, with others florals in the background, which are covered by the sweet notes (something between Angel perfume by Thierry Mugler and CH by Carolina Herrera). The middle notes the floral become more prominent and it’s easier to smell sweet roses with a soft and also sweet wood and probably vanilla. The final notes are essentially vanilla with the praline now in the background.

Compared to its Eau de Toilette version, Flowerbomb is much more gourmand (a technical word of the perfume world for “so sweet it makes you want to eat it”), and less floral. It’s ideal for an office use, any time of the year, especially if you want to draw attention without being too intrusive.

I have been using a power juicer classic for the past 2 years and this is what I have found.

One of the main claims of the power juicer classic is that it operates “whisper quiet” and I have to agree that they are not exaggerating. I was actually very surprised when I turned it on for the first time that it was so quiet. I have used other juicing machine but none of them were as wonderfully quite as the power juicer. So the quietness is a big plus of the power juicer.

Another main claim of the power juicer machines is that their extra wide 3″ feed chute can handle most fruits and vegetables whole without need for halving or quartering beforehand. Although I have to agree it is the biggest feed chute I have seen on a juicing machine, it is not quite as amazing as it is advertised. It isn’t completely true, for example, that you can fit apples in whole – unless they are small. The average sized apple that we are more likely to be using will need to be halved. Even so, the 3″ chute is great, it is just a little exaggerated in its advertisement.

The 3,600RPM motor and surgical quality stainless steel blade does a great job at chopping up fruit and vegetables with ease and they really do juice as well as the infomercial displays. It really does only require a light push to get produce through the power juicer.

The cleaning up of the power juicer does take a little effort and is not anywhere as easy as the infomercial claims. There are seven pieces to disassemble (and re-assemble) and wash. Most of the parts do rinse off fairly easily but the blade and the wire mesh filter will require hot water and a bit of oomph to get clean. It is nothing unmanageable but clean up is not as easy as it is advertised.

In conclusion I would say for the $100 it cost to buy the power juicer classic is well worth it. It is a solid machine that has served me well with almost daily use for the past two years without breaking down once. Although there are a few slightly ‘exaggerated’ claims on the infomercials (when is advertising not?) the juicer is ‘mostly’ as advertised. All in all I am happy with the power juicer classic.
