Thanksgiving is the perfect excuse to put ideas about dieting out of your mind. It is a time to enjoy the wonderful tastes of food, to savor recipes that are  handed down from one generation to the next and also to try some new recipes as well. There are a couple of Thanksgiving dressing recipes that sound too good to pass up and good enough to be shared.

Thanksgiving meat dressing:
4 pounds of ground beef, browned and drained.
2 pounds sweet Italian sausage, removed from casing, browned and crumbled.
1 large onion and two stalks celery diced. Saute in skillet with margarine until soft.
Small amount of salt pork, chopped and browned.
10 slices white bread
Bell’s seasoning.

Combine the cooked ground beef, sausage, salt pork, onion and celery in a large bowl. Mix ingredients well. In a small bowl place ten slices of white bread, pour water on the bread until moistened. Add 2 tablespoons Bell’s seasoning to the bread. With your hands mix seasoning into bread while breaking bread apart. Add bread mixture into large bowl with the meat. Using your hands mix well.

This can be made a day ahead of time and baked in a 325 degree oven, covered for 40 minutes before serving, or you may stuff the turkey. If stuffing the bird,take dressing out immediately after taking it out of the oven.

Quick and easy bread stuffing:
Leftover bread cut into cups, you will need enough to make about four cups.
2 cups water boiled with two tablespoons margarine or butter.
Add 2 tablespoons onion flakes, two tablespoons chicken bullion, and 1 tablespoon Bell’s seasoning, to the boiling water.
Reduce heat and let the water and seasoning mixture simmer for 3 minutes.
Remove from the heat and add the bread cubes. Toss to moisten the bread.
Let sit for five minutes before serving.

Both recipes can be doubled to make more. They are both delicious and will have guests coming back for seconds. You can substitute chicken broth for the water in the bread stuffing if desired, skip the chicken bullion if you do that. You can also add additional seasonings that you may like, such as Rosemary or Thyme. Take these basic recipes and make them your own by using seasonings and flavors that you and your family enjoy. That is what Thanksgiving is all about, family and friends being Thankful for the great dinner and wonderful company they are sharing it with.

Plymouth , Massachusetts

This is the origin of the Thanksgiving dinner and nothing is better than going to this place. Again if you are going to Plymouth then you will need to make sure that you also plan for a visit to Boston and combine the tow. I am sure Boston English charm and ride in the famous Duck tours would be very very enjoyable.

 New York City

This is a favorite at all times of the year and this year also it is going to be interesting and you can always discover something new every time you visit. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is supposed to be the best and most important among all the parades and it is definitely as a fun thing to do.

Disney World, Orlando

Disney has characters to suit each occasion and the Thanksgiving day parade is supposed to very good and of course they have special themes running for kids all during the Thanksgiving weekend.

Chicago, Illinois

Again if have been to Macy’s day parade then it is better to plan for the Chicago parade. Believe me you will be enjoying that parade.

Thanksgiving Travel tips

Book early as the rush is always there. Now if you are planning to drive then you will face major traffic at all major highways. Play your travel early morning or late in the night.

Also travel light as the airlines are now charging heavy amounts for the excess baggage and for thanksgiving if you are bringing gifts then that means that you will be of course paying extra. A better ways would be ship the stuff to your destination and travel light.
