How to make silk flowers mothers day bouquet

Every year we try to find or make the perfect gift for mom.  This year, may be a silk flowers mothers day bouquet is in order.  They are quite simple to make, and then you have something to give that comes directly from your heart.  With just a few simple materials such as silk, interfacing, florist wire, and florists tape, you will be well on your way to creating that perfect gift.

The first thing that you want to do is iron some interfacing in between two pieces of silk.  This will give the material the support it needs to stand up like a real rose, without making it too stiff.  If you never applied interfacing before, then look at the packaging and follow the directions; usually just a quick iron is all it needs.

Then you want to start cutting out petals of varying sizes.  If you are uncomfortable with doing this freehand, then use a real rose as a template.  Make sure you add a little extra nub at the bottom to make putting the petals together much easier.

Next you are going to start putting the petals together.  Starting with the smaller ones that you cut out and working your way to a the larger ones, start adding them to the florists wire, with the tape.  The wire should be long enough to not only attach the flowers to, but also enough for the stem. After you getting the petals in the shape you want for the flower, you can even make and add a couple of green ones to the outside.

Now that your flower is looking good, keep wrapping the florists tape around the wire to create the stem.  You can even add some leaves to it by using the same method as you did for the petals. Keep the wrapping going until it reaches the desired length of the stem.

Once the first one is made, the next one should go much quicker as for the subsequent ones after that.  Just keep making flowers until you have enough for as big or small a bouquet as you desire.  Place them into a lovely vase, and then you’re done.  If you want to add a little shimmer to them, you can spray them with a little glitter, or some paraffin.

Something that you’ve made by hand always means more to mom than something that you bought in a store, and a silk flowers mothers day bouquet is just the ticket.  Make one in an afternoon, or once you get the hang of it you can make one for every mom on your block.  Fun to make, great to give, and touching to receive, you will soon be giving something that is treasured for years to come.
