Easter Bunny cake ideas

It is a tradition in most families to make an Easter bunny cake every Easter. While these cake creations are expensive to buy, these can be easily prepared at home. There are a wide range of Easter bunny cake ideas that can be prepared. With the right cake mixes your bunny cake is certain to draw great admiration from family and friends. Some simple steps have been given below that will help you bake that perfect cake!

Bake or purchase two round cakes of flavor of your choice. One round will make the face of the Bunny, and the other will make his bow tie and two ears.

Take a piece of cardboard and cover it with tin foil. Frost the bottom of the first round generously and stand it frosted side down on the cardboard so that the frosting in the middle holds them together. Now frost the whole thing. This makes the Bunny’s face.

Next cut the second round to make two ears and the bow tie for the Bunny. Cut the bottom of the ears round so it fits the head. Now, place the ears at the top of the head and the bow tie at the bottom. You may use frosting to attach the pieces together.

Frost the ears and the bow tie. Create Bunny’s facial features using small chocolate Easter eggs, gumdrops or jelly beans for eyes and nose; red licorice strings for whiskers and smiling mouth; pink jelly beans to fill the middle of the ears. You may also add bright colored candy polka dots to the bow tie.

Finally, put green jelly beans around the bottom of the cake as an outline as green resembles grass.

Implementing Easter bunny cake ideas with your kids is a fun activity that you wouldn’t want to miss! It is wonderful to see them participating gleefully in baking their favorite cake. Children love Easter and Easter bunny costumes are a fun way to add to the celebration.  Dressing up for Easter is enjoyable for both parents and kids and will make an adorable picture to send to grandparents as well as preserve family memories. The costumes can be worn at a home Easter party, an Easter egg hunt, Easter parade or any type of Easter celebration

Unlike the adult versions, all children’s bunny costumes have an open face for safety reasons. The face can be painted with child safe, water based face paint to add some bunny face features.  The material is typically fleece, faux fur or cotton with padding inside for added protection.  Usually infant and toddler costumes have more padding than the older children styles.

Children’s Easter bunny outfits include zippered or Velcro jumpsuits for the bunny body, hoods or detached hats for the floppy bunny ears and attachable bunny feet shoe covers.  Infant ones offer Velcro openings for easy access to changing diapers.

There are many styles of Easter bunny costumes for boys and girls of any age.  Styles include cartoon looking costumes that look similar to bugs bunny, ones resembling an actual bunny, mascot bunny costumes and traditional Easter bunny style ones. Some are decorated with pompoms or bow ties or include a colorful Easter patterned vest. Costumes are available in bulky bunny outfits and tailored slimmer costumes.

Most colors for kids’ bunny costumes are white and cream.  However, there are ones in pastel colors, grey, brown and other colors.   Many have a different colored round patch on the chest.

There are also accessories available for children who do not want to wear an entire costume.  Head band style bunny ears, a fluffy tail, a bunny nose or a hat with bunny ears allow your child to join in the fun without the full body costume.  An oversized foam carrot or carrot rattle is a nice extra to add to the costume.

It is important to select material that is comfortable and breathable.  It can dampen the holiday spirit if your child is uncomfortable, overheated or irritated by scratchy, rough material.  Also, make sure that your child is able to move freely in the costume, particularly if he or she will be engaging in activities such as an Easter egg hunt.

Easter bunny costumes for kids add to the fun and spirit of Easter.  There are so many styles, colors and optional accessories that will appeal to both you and your child.  If your child is old enough, he or she will enjoy helping you select their costume.  Happy Easter!
